Lost Coin Class Notes for June 14th, 2007

Information regarding the film, "El Topo," showing at the Tower Theatre in SLC. El Topo refers to the mole, that lives underground. It seeks light , but when it comes above ground it is blinded. This is a symbolic work by Joe JOdorowsky, a filmmaker involved with the Gurdjieff Institute. The film is about a man who trains to become a gunslinger, has an awakening and becomes a priest. Suggestion that we see it as a class.

Administration

Reminder for all to copy notes in the body of your email and send. Daniel will not be here for class on July 10th.

Follow-up on last week's Practice not having Fear: It is important not to think about not having fear. Give yourself the experience.

Irritation& Frustration- insulates you from fear. Doesn't create vulnerability.

Impatience - disguised fear. Easier to be angry than fearful.

Speed of emotions is much quicker than the mind. Being fearless requires a strong energy. PLEASE CONTINUE WITH SELF- OBSERVATION.

Discussion / Typology / The Enneagram

Reference to " The Wisdom of the Enneagram " by Riso & Hudson Suggestion to eliminate what you are not, to better help you discern your type. Take your time as you review the tests and read the text. Remember that this is a too, to start looking at yourself & seeing yourself in this group.

Reference to 4th Way: 3 Centers

Moving Center -Learn through mimicking. More interested in primitive art. Move it.

Emotional Center- Strong likes & dislikes. Baptist, emotionalizing, passionate. Feel it.

Intellectual Center- Interested in more abstract art, intellectually challenging theories. Budddhism. Think it.

Gurdjieff's:

The tramp - doesn't want to answer to anyone. Doesn't want to make the effort. Little responsibility.

The lunatic - believes in magical effort, child-like, new agey. Functions from the MOON.

The householder- Is resonsible, in the world, earns a living. Knows that everything requires EFFORT.

THE POINT IS A REAL DIRECT SEEING IN THE MOMENT..

Getting out of the box you are in ( Riso & Hudson).

This week's practice: Try to indentify the primary fear associated with your type.
